Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month - May 2019 - Award Citation

The Cork City Sports Athlete for the Month for May 2019 is Darragh McElhinney (Bantry AC)

The Cork City Sports Athletic Person for the Month of May is Darragh McElhinney from Bantry Athletic Club. On May 25th, Darragh set a new National 5,000m record of 13:54.10, at the Flanders Cup in Belgium. Earlier in the month he also set a new Munster Schools Senior Boys 1,500m record of 3:49.42, in very blustery conditions.

This is Darragh's fourth Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month award, having previously won in March 2015, July 2016, and again in November 2018
