Six Cork athletes are competing at the European Masters Indoor T&F Championships, at the Gallur Municipal Sports Centre, Madrid, Spain from Sunday last, until Saturday 24th. The athletes are: St Finbarr's AC's Denis Coughlan, Mallow AC's Paul Moloney, Sinead O'Regan, from Riverstick-Kinsale AC, along with Leevale AC trio of Annette Quaid, Tim Twomey and John Corr.

Leevale AC's John Corr was first into the fray, on Tuesday, running in the M45 60m. John ran 7.48 secs to qualify automatically for the 800m Final, from Heat 4.

Next Cork athlete in action was Leevale AC's Annette Quaid. who also qualified automatically, as winner of the first Heat of the F40 Women's 800m, in 2:25.98

Just after Annette Quaid, another Cork athlete on the track was St Finbarr's AC's Denis Coughlan, in Heat 3 of the M35 800m. Denis also qualified in second place, in a time of 2:05.10 sec

Annette Quaid wins F40 800m Bronze

This evening Annette Quaid took the F40 800m European Masters Championship Bronze Medal, with a 2:17.90 sec run, behind winner, Mayte Martinez, Spain, 2:16.59 sec, and Silver medalist. Lisa Palmer Blount, GB, 2:17.17.
F35 200m Semi-Final
Also running tonight, in the F35 200m Semi-Final, was Riverstick-Kinsale AC's Sinead O'Regan. Sinead ran 28.60 sec, in Semi-Final 2, to finish fifth, with the first four in that semi going through, with third and fourth places going through as fastest losers.

Late last night, Tuesday, St Finbarr's AC's Denis Coughlan went out of the M35 800m, at the semi-final stage, finishing fifth in Semi-Final 1, in 2:01.59 sec, with 2:01.31 qualifing, from Semi-Final 2, as fastest loser.
