Car Parks

Location of Car Parks

 

Access and Parking

In recognition of thefact that parents and other supporters may have to pay for car parking, Cork Athletics County Board has decided not to charge any entrance fee for adults for the duration of the 2023 Juvenile County T&F Championships

Parking in the Mardyke Sports Grounds is limited to Members of UCC Mardyke Arena - there is NO public parking available

UCC Western Gateway: Limited free parking will be available on Western Gateway, on a first come first served basis

Áras na Laoi: Limited free parking will be available, on a first come first served basis

CarrChlos: Monitored Car Park €6 for day, payable upon entry. This car park is located next door to the Kingsley Hotel, opposite County Hall, less than 5 minutes from the track.

Sacred Heart Church Car Park: Paid Parking is available in Sacred Heart Car Park (€7 for day) Mass Times are 08:30am, 10:00am & 11:30am

  • Access to infield is strictly prohibited
  • Warm up is NOT permitted on Rugby Pitch (Western (County Hall) end of Track)
  • Warm up is permitted on GAA pitch (Eastern (city) end of Track). Please take care if the grass is wet
  • Access to toilets via dresing room sat back of pavillion, and also at front, next to athlete check-in
  • Additional toilets are available next to the GAA pitch
  • Catering facilities (drinks, sandwiches, snacks) will be available on the upper floor of the Pavillion building
  • A pop up cafe will also be open next to the Pavillion, serving drinks, pastries and snacks

PLEASE ENSURE TO TAKE ANY RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU

 

Number Collection & Athlete Check-In

  • One designated club member must pick up ALL club numbers and sign for them. That will be done through the door on the left of the front of the Pavilion building
  • Athletes ONLY should check in, at least one hour before their scheduled track event, with their number affixed to their singlet. Go through the middle door of the Pavillion building, and then enter the door on the left
  • Separate queues for male & female, with an express queue specifically for 1500m athletes
  • Athletes entered in two track events can check in for both at the same time
  • Check in for a semi-final or final will be done on the start line
  • Check in for field events will be done at the time the event is called

•    Check in is required for track events only

•    Only the athlete should check in; parents, guardians or coaches should not queue for check-in

•    Separate male and female queues will be in place

•    An express queue for those entered in 1500m will also be available until approximately 09:45am. DO NOT join this queue if you are not entered in the 1500m event

•    An athlete will be checked in for both events at the same time

•    Athletes must have their number attached when they are checking in

•    Field event participants should go to their appropriate discipline when called

•    The purpose of check in is to allow the organisers amend any heats that have been created where necessary (e.g. if 10 athletes are entered for an event, but only 8 turn up, we can replace two heats with a straight final)

•    Track events will NOT be electronically timed

•    There will be two catering areas

•    One pop up cafe that will offer tea, barista style coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks, baking and snacks

•    One upstairs in the pavilion that will offer tea, coffee, water, snacks, crisps and sandwiches

•    There will be limited seating both at the pop up cafe and the indoor dining area

•    Tents & Gazebos are not permitted to be erected at the Mardyke

•    Toilets can be found both at the Pavillion and at the GAA field

•    Warm up area is the GAA field. Under no circumstances should athletes warm up on the rugby pitch or in the Astroturf infield area

•    Only athletes and stewards are permitted to be inside on the track area for the duration of the competition

•    Athletes will not be permitted to cross the track to talk to parents or coaches during their long jump event

Due to Electronic Timing and Photo Finish constraints at the Mardyke, any times achieved will not be accepted as qualifying times for European or World Athletics competions

 

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
