Three Cork athletes, Conor Morey (Leevale AC), Sophie O'Sullivan (Ballymore-Cobh AC) and Brian Lynch (Old Abbey AC), are among the twenty-three strong, high calibre Irish team at the European Athletics Under-18 Championships, in Gyor, Hungary, from July 5th - 8th

A strong Irish team of twenty three athletes has been selected for the European Under-18 Championships, in Gyor, Hungary, from July 5th to 8th.
Some of the leading names include Sarah Healy (Blackrock), Rhasidat Adeleke (Tallaght), Sophie O’Sullivan (Ballymore Cobh) and Cian McPhillips (Longford).
Sarah Healy tops the 1500m rankings by ten seconds after her superlative 4:09.25 in Tubingen, Germany. Rhasidat Adeleke, featured on European Athletics, heads the rankings for the 100m, and is 5th on the 200m list. She is selected for the 200m, along with Patience Jumbo Gula (St Gerard’s Dundalk), who is also selected for the 100m (4th on the rankings).

Sophie O’Sullivan, daughter of Sonia O’Sullivan, makes her debut in an Irish vest in the 800m, and is ranked second.
Cian McPhillips (Longford) is another leading light on the rankings. He is ranked second in the 1500m, with his time of 3:49.85.
In terms of number breakdown, 15 of the team are girls, while 8 are boys. This will be great experience for these young athletes, as they look to progress on the pathway to Senior International Athletics.
