Beara AC's membership fee for the year, Jan-Dec 2018, is €50, with €25 for concessions. Membership includes insurance and Athletics Ireland Membership and Registration, and weekly training opportunities.

The club is only registering adult members currently, however the intention is to extend membership to juveniles, once the adult section is up and running.

Whilst the club is only, officially at least, starting up now, it has been working away quietly, getting ready for the January launch. The fledgling club actually formed both the nucleus and the basis for the first ever Athletics Ireland Assistant Coach course, in Cork, to be held outside of CIT Track, when the Assistant Coach Course was held in Bantry, last November. Clearly an indication of the progressive approach of the club.

Running in the Beara Penninsula

In the last few years, there has been an upsurgance in Athletics in the Beara Penninsula, with Parkruns on Bere Island, and in Glengarriff, along with road races in Eyeries, Allihies and Castletownbere, and, of course the highly popular Bere Island Mid-Summer 5k & 10k, all of which have attracted significant number of competitors. With the advent of the new club, it is planned to form a series involving these races. It must be mentioned also that today's recruitment venue, SuperValu Castletownbere, has been a significant sponsor of many of these races.

Exiting times for athletics in Beara!  Best of luck to the new club!
