Mount Vernon Bridge over N40 South Ring Road Opens
Tuesday October 31st 2023
Mount Vernon Bridge
There was a 'Soft Opening' of Mount Vernon Bridge last evening, in the midst of the rain. The bridge, over the N40 South Ring Road, links Tramore Valley Park with the Grange-Frankfield Road, emerging near the Catholic church in Frankfield. The Official Opening of the facility is due to take place on Friday November 17th
From the Tramore Valley side, a 200m access ramp brings you up to the bridge. Across the bridge, the 4m wide path wends its way through the valley adjacent to Vernon Mount, at a steady 5o all the way from the bridge, to just before the Grange-Frankfield Road, where you have a choice of using four sets of steps, or taking a longer route, via a double switchback
The distance from the bottom of the Ramp access to the Bridge to the Grange-Frankfield Road is pretty much 1 kilometer, at a 5o slope all the way from the Bridge, so its likely to prove popular with many runners for 'Hill Sessions'
There are three access points to the new path
From the Frankfield-Grange Road
From the Douglas-Tramore Valley Park Access Path
and From Alden/Inchvale Road
