Aoife Cooke, Eagle AC, and Fearghal Curtin, Youghal AC, have been selected on the strong Irish squad for Sunday's Antrim Coast Half-Marathon, which carries a World Athletics Road Race Elite Label. While Olympian Aoife Cooke is firmly established at this level, Ferghal Curtin will be making his Half-Marathon debut. In preparation for stepping up in distance, Fearghal has been showing exceptional form in training, as can be seen in this recent post: Youghal’s Fearghal Curtin in Top Form - July 2023

Antrim Coast Half Marathon Selections

Athletics Ireland has selected a team of 4 men and 4 women to compete at the 2023 Antrim Coast Half Marathon which takes place on 27th August 2023

Recognising the importance of continuing to develop half marathon and marathon athletes that can compete at Global and European Championship, Athletics Ireland will field a team to compete against other international teams in the Antrim Coast Half Marathon

The fixture will incorporate an international team element with teams from Northern Ireland and Ulster, and England, as well as a strong field of elite internationals from other nations. The selection of an Irish team to compete will be used as an opportunity for athletes to increase their experience of international level competition and an international team competition environment

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
