This course is aimed at Coaches who have coached at Level 1, for at least one year, and are working with athletes who are beginning to specialise and develop in specific events
This is an opportunity for coaches to up-skill and network with peers.  The course will be offered in four streams, from which coaches select their discipline.  These include:

   Sprints and hurdles

Endurance

Throws

Jumps

 

Athletics Ireland Coaching Pathway

 

The course will run from 9am to 5pm on each of these days.  This course is open to coaches who are actively coaching, and hold a Level 1 coaching qualification for at least a year


At this level the coach begins to focus on event group specialisation, i.e. Sprints and Hurdles, Distance and Walks, Jumps, or Throws. This course is aimed at those who have coached at Level 1 for at least one year and who are working with athletes who themselves are beginning to specialise and develop in certain event areas

 

Registration

Registration Cost: €150, plus €7.50 transaction fees - includes access to the course material via USB Memory Drive

    Nutrition/Hydration
    Strength & Conditioning
    Introduction to Sports Psychology
    Preparation for competition
    Injury Prevention and Recovery
    Testing & Monitoring
    Introduction to Physiology/Anatomy
    Technique and training progressions.
    Developing coaching skills.
    Developing event awareness and the competitive process.
    The coach will qualify in one of the 4 event group modules - (the 4 being – Sprints and Hurdles, Endurance and Walks, Throws, Jumps)

Duration

    The course will be three weekends in duration.
    All three weekends will include a mix of theory and practical work, mostly in event specific groups.
    Coaches must attend all three weekends, and pass both written and practical assessments, in order to be certified as a Level 2 Coach in an event area (e.g. Level 2 Jumps/ Level 2 Throws etc.)
    Note: only one event group can be completed per coach as courses run concurrently.

Entry Requirements

Level 2 is open to those active coaches who have completed Level 1 or are assimilated at Level 1 and have a minimum of 1 years coaching experience at Level 1

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
