Weather Outlook for Dublin Marathon 2018
Weather Outlook for Sunday's Marathon
SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon 2018
9am, Sunday October 28th 2018
This page will be updated over the coming days, as weather (in particular) firms up
08:00am Saturday October 27th: Weather outlook continues to improve, with wind forecasts abating considerably, lessening windchill. Runners still need to be mindful that it will be colder than it has been up to now.
Best of Luck Everyone!
10:30pm, Thursday October 25th: Less than 60 hours to go! Weather is starting to firm up, with little change from previous predictions, so it looks like being pretty cold throughout the event. While forecasts seem pretty much the same across several sites, the main difference seems to be change in cloud cover during the morning, with one site forecasting the sky to cloud over during the course of the morning. Unfortunately, if this happens, it will reduce any solar heat runners may benefit from.
As it is, temperatures are predicted to range from 5C at 9am to 9C at 12 noon, however there is a predicted 4C wind chill, so hat & gloves, and maybe an extra layer, are advisable. Also best not to be hasty in discarding the extra material too soon. You can always tuck things into your shorts, temporarily at least, until you're sure that you really, really don't need them anymore.
Also be sure that you have warm clothes to change into afterwards - layers are probably best.
11pm, Tuesday October 23rd: 4 days to go! ....106 hours to be precise. and it's still too early to be sure of things. General consensus between the various weather forecasts is that it is going to be significantly colder after Friday .... BUT a predicted bulge from Arctic regions will have a significant impact, however the precise timing and location is still unclear. Current forecasts have it coming down later on Friday, but if it shifts further West, if will be very cold, while a little further east and things will be cooler than at present, but perhaps not as cold as some predictions. It's a bit like reading chicken entrails!
11pm, Monday Oct 22nd: 5 days to go! It's still *WAY* too far out for the weather on Sunday to be predicted with the level of accuracy required for any decent marathon plan...so we'll update the page each day. By Friday however, we should have a pretty realistic idea of what to expect on the day.
