Closing Midnight Tonight!

Following a huge rush of entries yesterday, race organisers, St. Finbarr's AC, have taken the decision to close entries at Midnight tonight, Sunday August 26th 2018.

The event doubles as the Cork Athletics County 10 Mile Championships, so it is critical for anyone contemplating running in the Championships, who hasn't already entered, that they do so in the next few hours.

End Note - Event Promotion

This might be something that other race organisers can benefit from, given the tight competition from competing athletics events, along with other "distractions".

St Finbarr's have used a number of diverse methods for publicising this year's event. One of these is the use of Facebook paid promotion, which has proved highly effective, so much so, that St. Finbarr's AC have increased their race numbers, from 551 finishers in 2017, to the situation where they are closing entries, with a 1,000 limit, at midnight tonight.

Many clubs, and Cork Athletics County Board, have been using Facebook paid promotion to great effect.  For those who are not familiar with Facebook paid promotion: For quite a small outlay, say €10 + VAT, event organisers can set their own target groups, say those aged 16 to 55, who like "Running", "Road Running", "Athletics"...or any other interest you select, within a radius of x (you chose) kilimetres of 'wherever', significant reaches can be made. It can be difficult to measure the effectiveness of these promotions, but they appear to be most effective when used in conjunction with Online Entry facilities.
