There are no major changes to this year's Marathon route, but there are two minor changes
The first is just before the Lee Tunnel, where road re-alignment has taken place. This change will be unnoticed by the cast majority of participants
The second change is at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, where the route continues directly on from the old railway line, instead of turning out onto the Marina. It drops down into the Pairc Ui Chaoimh car-park, and immediately up the access road slope, where it briefly joins the Marina. The section just before the short climb will be coned off, separating Half-Marathon and Marathon runners, with the separation ending before the bottom of the slope
The start is on Monaghan Road, by Kennedy Park. Starting on Monaghan Road, the route goes directly east, eliminating the turns in the Albert Road area. Going around Páirc Uí Caoimh, it joins the Marathon course on the Marin, and continues along the same course

The 10k Start line is exactly the same as the start of the Full Marathon, and the Finish line is also exactly the same, so you'll get the full 'Pana' experience.
The 10k is marked in Kilometers, from 1 to 9. This course is probably the flattest 10k you'll experience anywhere in the world...Literally.
The Marathon and 10k start line is in Patrick St, outside the Savoy, and heads up Patrick St, as in previous years. Turning onto Grand Parade, the courses then separate, with the 10k turning right and heading west, along Washington St
Immediately after turning into Grand parade, turn right onto Washington Street, and head all the way out the Western Road as far as the Sacred Heart Church/AIB
Note: There will be live traffic on your left all along here, with a Traffic Management company managing a vehicular contra-flow system during the early stages of the 10k
The 1 km Mark is reached by Mardyke St, just before The River Lee Hotel
At UCC Gates, the route heads across the pedestrian crossing, and on out Western Road, using the inbound traffic & Bus lanes
The 2km Mark is reached just before the 'Pink Clinic', close to where 'Starry's Pub' used to be
At the end of Western Road, the course heads around the bend to the right, before turning right again onto the Mardyke
Turn right at the top of the Mardyke, and head back into town
The 3km Mark is reached opposite the main entrance to Fitzgerald Park
Cumann na mBan Walk, Just after turning off Mardyke
The 4km Mark is opposite the Maltings and in line with the eastern end of the Cooperage Building in image
Towards the end of the Cumann na mBan Walk, on right of image, change over to roadway, via gate in railings
Exit Cumann na mBan Walk onto North Mall
Turn Left at Christy Ring Bridge
The 5km Mark is almost immediately after Christy Ring Bridge
Most of the 10k is pretty straight forward, however this section of road, both outward and returning, provides plenty of opportunity to 'run long'. With a big field expected in the 10k, you may not have an opportunity to run the SPR (Shortest Possible Route), but you should at least try
At Ladyswell Brewery, turn left, and immediately right, onto Watercourse Road, with another left, then right shortly after that, onto Great William O'Brien St
The 6km Mark is reached by Madden's Buildings/Seminary Walk
Continue on to Brocklesby St/Commons Road
Sharp right turn at Brocklesby St
Madden's Buildings 'Dog-Leg'
At Madden's Buildings, the 10k (Only) turns left and away from the city, before going around the Traffic Island at Assumption Road. [This short 'detour' is needed to ensureteh required distance is met]
The 7km Mark is reached halfway between the turn at Madden's Buildings, and Ladyswell Brewery
On reaching Christy Ring Bridge, head left, along Camden Quay, and Patrick's Quay
The 8km mark is at the rear of the Metropole Hotel
Note: The roadworks are long gone!
Turn right over Brian Boru Bridge, and right again, along Merchant's Quay
Approaching Cornmarket St
There is another opportunity to run long. between here and North Gate Bridge - try to run the Tangent line at all the bends, whereverpossible
The 9km Mark is just after Cornmarket St
At North Gate Bridge, turn left onto North Main St
Washington St
Left turn into Washington St
Once you see the Capitol complex in front of you, you have less than 400m remaining!
The Finish Line is at Opera Lane, about half-way down Patrick St
