5k Road Race

Because of changes within Fota Wildlife Park, including the opening of the new African Savannah tiger enclosure, the traditional 4 Mile route has been altered last year, to include the new areas within Fota Wildlife Park.  As a result, the distance has been reduced to 5k


Juvenile 1 Mile 

Also last year, a 1 Mile race was introduced, for Juveniles aged 11 to 15 years.  Entry is limited to 200 Juveniles.  This event will be chip timed, and will start at 7:15pm, while the main event, the 5k, will start at 8pm

Entry for these events is entirely online, via a link on the Eagle AC website

Entries for the 5k open on Wednesday May 3rd, at 10:00am, with 450 places on offer. The remaining 450 places will become available at 7pm.  When they're gone ...They're GONE!!  NB!!

If you miss out at 10am, do try again at 7pm

The course elevation profile above isn't quite as bad as it looks.
1) The presence of quite a bit of tree cover 'fools' Googlemaps into thinking that ther tree tops is the road surface
2) The range illustrated below is between about 10 and 50 ft, and all climbs are gentle slopes, except for one short sharp incline.

About Us

Cork Athletics is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
