Steward and Recorders urgently required for next Sunday's Women's Mini-Marathon

Event Funds Cork Athletic's Competitions and Other Athletics Support Activities

The Mini-marathon is a major fund-raiser for Cork Athletics, and requires upward of 120 stewards and officials to organise safely.  The proceeds help Cork Athletics fund its competitions and Championships, in addition it enables the Board to organise training, in coaching, coach education, child protection and safety, along with grants for related equipment.  The Board also organises transport and accomodation for representative Cork teams.

Call for Stewards

In return the Board asks each of Cork Athletic's Clubs to provide a minimum of four (4) stewards for next Sunday's event.   The event relies very heavily on, and is grateful for the continued support of  member clubs and individual AAI members, without whose support the event would not be possible and, as a consequence, Cork Athletics would not be in a position to fund a great proportion of its current activities.

Charities

The participants in this year's Mini-Marathon are expected to raise close to €1,000,000 euro for their respective charites.  This much needed revenue is absolutely vital for the charities.

Stewards Contact

Stewards should contact Noreen Murphy, on 085-7157810,  ideally by Wed (23rd) evening, or, failing that, as soon as possible. If you find, ata later stage, that you are available, just call Noreen.  Last minute volunteers can  make contact on the day with Noreen Murphy or Pat Walsh.  Stewards need to be in place approx. 1 hour before the 1pm start.

Volunteering only take a couple of very enjoyable hours, during which you can, indirectly, help many, many organisations to both survive and thrive, and through them, many thousands of individuals who require their support and/or assistance.

Missing Hi-Viz Vests

Hi-Viz vests will be provided for all Stewards and Officials, however, over time, some 80 Hi-Viz vests have not been returned following various event.  The replacement cost of all these is some €800.  Please check your boot/garage/shed/wherever to see if you have one (or more).  If you have any, please bring them along on Sunday, or let the Board know that you have them.
We'll be there!......Will YOU?   Please call Noreen Murphy, 085-7157810
