Grace McKenzie wins her first-ever 400m Hurdles, while Dean 'Decano' Cronin sets College record while setting a new 800m PB, and Fearghal Curtin also runs new 1500m PB
Fearghal Curtin, Youghal AC and Charleston Southern University, ran a 3:49.43 PB, when finishing fourth in the top 1500m on day 1 of the Georgia Tech Invitational, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, last Friday. Fearghal took 0.22 secs off his previous 1500m best of 3.50.05
In the race, Fearghal went out hard after leader and stayed in second place for most of race. However he tied up a bit in final 100m of the race. It was a gutsy performance. He just wanted to set a PB, as preparation for the 5000m, at the NCAA Regional Championships, which will be held in Florida towards the end of May. Afterwards he said that he was "Happy with race". He will now concentrate on his college exams, but may go in another fixture before the Regional Championships.
