Bandon AC's Phil Healy produced another storming performance at yesterday's Day 1 of the Irish University Athletics Association T&F Championships, in Queens University Belfast.
Subject to ratification, Phil Healy broke two IUAA records in yesterday's heats, with 11.55 sec, in the 100m, followed by 23.31 in the 200m. x 2 for @philhealy2 in the heats. 100m in 11.55. Phil's 200m time was a PB by 0.01 sec, consolidating her third place in the Irish All-Time 200m standings. More importantly it qualifies her for the European Championships, in Berlin, next August

Donie Walsh Honoured
Earlier this week, UCC distance coach Donie Walsh, Leevale AC, was recipient of the Kieran Dowd Special Achievement Award, at the UCC Sports Star Awards, in recognition of his years of dedication to coaching at UCC.

Grace McKenzie - Southland Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Belgooly AC's multi-event performer Grace McKenzie, on athletic scholarship, at McNeese University, in the U.S., has been named this week's Southland Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, for her record-breaking performance in the heptathlon at last week's SFA Carl Kight Invitational.
McKenzie scored 5,406 points, to brake the previous college heptathlon record and capture the gold, her first heptathlon win as a McNeese Cowgirl. He points total rocketed her up the Irish All-Time Pentathlon Listings, to fourth place.
Her point total lifts her to the No. 1 ranking in the Southland Conference, by 100 points, is fourth on the NCAA East Qualifying list ,and 14th overall in the NCAA Division I ranks.
As part of the heptathlon, she clocked the McNeese third-fastest 100-meter hurdles time at 13.73.
Fearghal Curtin
In other news, Youghal AC's Fearghal Curtin, ran a 3:51.49, to place third in the 1500m, at Charlotte Invitational, at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
