Results from Athletics Ireland National Intermediate Cross-Country Championships 2017
The Golden Year began in style, with the Athletics Ireland National Intermediate Cross-Country Championship, in Tuam, Co. Galyway, where Youghal AC, led home by Aoife Cooke, claimed the Inter-Club Title, while Mallow AC's Lorraine Bolster-Tavolieri took the individual Bronze medal. Unfortunately Lorraine, who had made dramatic progress this year, was not on the nominated Cork team that day, nevertheless the Cork team prevailed.
In all twenty one (21) athletes, from ten (10) clubs won Inter-County Team Gold, twenty four Gold medals in all, with three athletes, Sinead Kevaney (Midleton AC, Ruth Millerick (Youghal AC) and Evelyn Cashman (Youghal AC) each winning two Team Golds.

Senior Women's Race
The women’s race was whittled down to three athletes on the final lap, with Kerry O’Flaherty (Newcastle) pushing the pace from Heaslip and Lizzie Lee (Leevale), with Michelle Finn (Leevale) seemingly out of contention.
Shona Heaslip split the trio over the closing stages, into the uphill finish, with O’Flaherty holding second, and a fast finishing Finn snatching the bronze from her teammate Lee. There was more than enough consolation for Lee, as Leevale won the team title. They were ably backed up by Claire McCarthy, in 10th and Sinead O’Connor in 18th places. DSD were second, with An Riocht third. Cork won the Inter-County title.
