Phil Healy finishes 7th in Womens 200m Final

Weather conditions were tough in Taipei for today's athletics, with temperatures hitting 30C and 72% humidity. Winds outside the stadium were 27kph, but, trackside, the womens 200m had a -1.4m/s headwind.  The video below mentions "pandemonium" before the start of the womens 200m, but it isn't clear what gave rise to this or whather it had any effect on the race.

Phil started well and was in the Silver medal position coming out of the bend but the other girls came through, with Phil placing 7th in 23.81secs, in a group finish

Womens 3000m Steeplechase Final

Michelle Finn finished in 14th place, in 10:40.06, in what appears to have been a remarkable steeplechase final.  The winning time of 9:51.27 would seem to have been an achieveable time for all the athletes.  Eventaul Bronze medalist, Ozlem Kaya led the field through the first 1,000m in 3:17.26, while winner, Tugba Guvenic brought them through 2,000m in 6:36.82.  These times would seem to indicate pretty even running throughout for the front runners, however is is remarkable that none of the field, outside of the three medalists, broke 10 minutes. The weatherconditions clearly had a very detrimental effect on performances.
