Six of Leevale's Olympians, Marcus O'Sullivan, Lizzie Lee, Michelle Finn, Catherine Dunne, John Twomey, Donie Walsh and Ailish McSweeney, jointly cut the tape to officially open the club's High performance at Farranlea Road today, Saturday July 15th.  The opening also marks the 50th anniversary of the club's foundation.

The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Simon Coveney, T.D., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Micheal Martin T.D., Michael McGrath T.D., Cork City Lord Mayor Councillor Tony Fitzgerald, Cork County Lord Mayor Councillor Declan Hurley and Bishop John Buckley, along with a multitude of athletics personalities, including most of the Cork City Sports committee (many of whom are also Leevale members), Georgina Drumm, President, Athletics Ireland, John Treacy CEO Sport Ireland, to name but a few. Needless to say, Leevale members from past and present ensured a large gathering attended.
