Officials

Officials play a crucial role in making hundreds of events run smoothly throughout the length and breadth of Ireland, on a weekly basis. Athletics Ireland offers resources for current officials, along with those seeking certification as officials

From working at National Championships to officiating at juvenile club and schools meetings, officials play a vital role and are essential for maintaining the highest levels of integrity at all levels of competition.

Training and Certification of Officials

Training and certification of officials is central to Atheltics Ireland's goal of ensuring fair and safe competitive opportunities for athletes. The training and certification processes promotes a serious and professional approach to officiating and demonstration of an official's commitment to excellence.

As an official gains experience, exposure to correct officiating practices, and additional training, Athletics Ireland recognizes this skill development through the progressive gradings of certification. At the highest levels, there is a progression route to IAAF certification and the possiblility of acting as an official in IAAF Championships.
