Stephanie Cotter, Adams State University and West Muskerry AC, won yesterday's NCAA Div II Women's 1500m Championship, in Allendale, Michigan, USA, in a time of 4:14.96, for her fifth National title and her second title this year.

Stephanie had close on three seconds over second place. Earlier this year she won the NCAA indoor mile championship earlier this year. Her winning time, which set a new GVSU Stadium record and was the sixth fastest 1500m in NCAA Division II history

The early leader was Stefanie Parsons, who went through 400m in a blistering 56 sec, and a sizeable lead.  Cotter headed the chasing pack, and closed somewhat during the second lap.  Going into the third lap the margin was down to about 10m, and was full closed up with 600m to go. Coming down the finishing straight for the penultimate time, Cotter eased ahead of parsons, followed by five others. Cotter got the bell at 3:08 and opened up around the bend, with only Ritter keeping touch.  Nevertheless, Cotter continued to increase her lead on Ritter and, with 200 to go, had about 5m on Ritter, and drove on for a comfortable winning margin of over 2 secs
