County Cross-Country Championships 2020
County Cross-Country Championships 2020
HSE/Government Covid Guidelines mean that there are significant Restrictions on the total number of people on site. As a result the County Board must implement specific measures , for this year only, to control access to the Cross-Country venue, and the way the event is conducted.
Day 1, Sunday October 4th, will set the standard to see if Cork Athletics County Board can manage to host the three subsequent Cross-Country Championship meets. A lot will depend on the behaviour of everyone attending the event, in terms of Covid compliance, and adherence to County Board conditions for the meet. Everyone must take personal responsibility for their own behaviour, and that of those they are responsible for, and do everything that they can to make the event safe for everyone present.
Changes to these Guidelines/Conditions
These guidelines/conditions were drafted while Cork was in Covid Level 2, and are subject to change or additions at very short notice
Statement from Cork Athletics County Board
"Cork Athletics County Board Officers have met virtualy several times to compile a workable programme for hosting this year's Championships. The Programme outlined below is a very challenging one for all of us. It is clear that we are limited to a maximum number of attendees, comprising of competitors, parents or guardians, officials and support personnel.
Consequently it has been decided that juveniles will be confined to their own age, otherwise, even with the conditions outlined here, the overall numbers on site cannot be managed within Government guidelines.
To avoid close contact in the finish area, and remove the necessity for a finishing chute, chip numbers will be used for all races this year. As Chip Numbers are required, entries must be submitted no later than ten (10) days before the event. Consequently late entries CANNOT be facilitated"

Prior to Travelling
Covid-19 Declaration
Each and every person attending MUST complete a Covid-19 Declaration on the day and BEFORE travelling to the event. Any person who has NOT completed the form will NOT be admitted.
Arrival at Grounds
Timetable / Ground Admission Times
A Timetable, with admission times and start times, will be published as soon as compiled. This will include arrival times for EACH race. Athletes must NOT arrive at the grounds before the designated admission time - anyone arriving at the grounds in advance of their designated time will be directed on past the grounds. Queueing of cars on the roadway outside is not permitted.
Parent/Guardians
A Juvenile athlete may be permitted to bring one (1) parent/guardian/coach. If an athlete arrives with more than one parent/guardian/coach, only one will be admitted. Non competing siblings/friends will NOT be admitted. Numbers on site at any one time are strictly limited, under Government guidelines - every excess person reduces our capacity to hold the event. Due to Covid, This is NOT a family day out [we wish it were, as in other years, but, due to numbers on site, our hands are tied]
Club Co-ordinators
Each club must nominate a co-ordinator/delegate/official/coach to collect race numbers before each race.
There must be a Different official/coach/parent to look after each clubs athletes for each individual race, e.g. Under-14 Girls official will brings the club's athletes to the start line, and then brings them back to their cars after their race, and all must leave the venue immediately. The field will be cleared for the next race and a different official will then take charge of the Under-14 boys, and follow the same procedure as set out previously, and so on with next age group.
Parents/Guardians - Remain in Cars
All parents/guardians must remain in their cars, behind the ropes at the perimeter of the car parking area - no access to field. Start and Finish areas will be visible from there.
Spectators
Due to Governments/HSE limit on numbers on site, No spectators will be admitted.
Chip Numbers
Chipped Numbers will be used for all races. There will be a wide finish line, with no finish chute, or recording of names – these will be recorded automatically as each athlete crosses the finish line. [Note – No times will be published for Juvenile races]
Number Swaps
NO Number swaps are permitted. Numbers will be Colour coded, so it will be clear if someone is running in the wrong race. [Number swaps are NOT permitted as each number/Chip is unique to each individual athlete]
After Every Race
Ground Clearance
The grounds must be cleared of all, except meet organising personnel, immediately after each race. This is a critical measure, without which it will not be possible to complete the fixture, and will impact on the decision to continue with the subsequent meets. Athletes, parents and coaches MUST leave the grounds immediately after each race - This is to ensure that the next race can start on time.
Teams - Juveniles Races
Teams will consist of three (3) athletes to score, and one (1) sub.
Senior Race Regulations
Eligibility and Regulations for Senior Races can be found under Competition Bye-Laws
NO MEDAL PRESENTATIONS
There will be NO MEDAL PRESENTATIONS at the event. All medals will be posted out at a later date
Warmup/Cooldown
Warmup/Cooldown is NOT permitted inside the grounds [There will be a SMALL (approx. 70m long) warm-up area, suitable for a BRIEF (approx. 5 minutes) warm-up by juveniles] - please warmup and cooldown at another location prior to arriving/after leaving the grounds. These measures are required to ensure that the Grounds are cleared between each race.
