The Sonia O'Sullivan 10 road race 2020, organised and hosted by Ballymore-Cobh AC was launched today, Sunday December 22nd 2019, at a function in Belvelly Castle.

Included in the function was a formal acknowledgement of the donation of €4,565, from the 2019 event, to Breakthrough Cancer Research, the official Race Charity Partner

Speaking at the event, Sonia thanked the event sponsors; Kearys of Cork, Merck, Eurospar, The Edge, The Commodore Hotel, Cobh Credit Union, The Naval Service and Keen on Sport, along with a host of other sponsors.

Sonia said that the organisers, Ballymore-Cobh AC, are committed to "making the race bigger and better". It is already the fastest 10 mile race in Ireland in 2019 and ...hills...what hills...Just get the head down and move those legs a bit faster! (said with a chuckle!)

As part of making the event bigger and better, the club are recruiting celebrity runners, including soccer and rugby players, along with a lot of other 'names'.  She said "We already know it's fast up front, so that will take care of itself. We want to make this a mass participation event. We also want to 'Tap into' New Year Resolutions"

Wanna Run the Great North Run!?

Sonia revealed that Ballymore-Cobh will shortly be announcing details of a very special prize, to be drawn from all race finishers. The lucky winner will receive a prize of flights to Newcastle (UK) for two people, 2 night accomodation and VIP entry to the prestigious Great North Run. The Great North Run attracts some 57,000 entries each year, and entry and accomodation are highly prized!

Watch out for details from Ballymore-Cobh AC and The Cobh 10
