Stephanie Cotter, Adams State University and West Muskerry AC, made it a National Double, at the NCAA Division II Championships, at the University of Texas A&M Javelina Stadium, in Kingsville, Texas, on Saturday, when she added the NCAA Division II National Outdoor 1500m Title to her Indoor Title, which she won last March.

The event was run in testing but typical Texan weather for this time of year: 32 degrees C, with 85% humidity, and a strong headwind down the back straight - not the most comfortable conditions by any stretch of the imagination.

Stephanie battled the whole race, slotting herself into second place, early on. She maintained that spot throughout race, until the very end, when she went to the front final moments of the race, to secure her second national title as a freshman. She crossed the line in 4:36.91. Stephanie beat a class field of quality International athletes, in a tactical race - slow running, but pure Championship racing, as Stephanie out-kicked the field on the home straight, in the last 50m, running 62sec for the last 400m and the last 200m was reported as "lightning speed".

Stephanie helped Adams State to secure 54 points over the three-day meet to bring home the NCAA Div II runner-up trophy.

The 1500m was a good event for Adams State, as they had three All-Americans in the event, including Stephanie. Roisin Flanagan, another Irish woman at Adams State, crossed the line in 4:37.68, placing fourth overall. Early in the race, Roisin was stuck in ninth place, but she was resilient, and she quickly battled up to fourth, to secure a spot on the podium and more points for her college
