National Sports Campus, Abbottstown, Dublin

The eight Clubs represented are: Bandon AC, Durrus AC, East Cork AC, Leevale AC, Mallow AC, North Cork AC, Togher AC and Youghal AC

Leevale have the largest contingent, with twenty three (23) athletes. East Cork AC, with nine (9) athletes have the second largest Cork Panel.

Leevale women's team will be aiming to retain their National Senior Title, however Lizzie Lee and Claire McCarthy will be sorely missed. Claire is coming back from injury, however on-form Lizzie Lee, National Marathon Champion and winner of last Sunday's Stook 10, is a surprising omission from the Leevale Team...hopefully just a transcription error by Athletics Ireland. However Leevale have been reinforeced in recent days, by the addition of Dylan Hassett, who has joind the club in the past few days. Dylan has set an impressive array of times, right across the range, from a 4:37 1500m to a 2:57 Marathon.

On the men's side, East Cork AC's consistent strength in depth should see the Club challenge for the medals. Another Cork team with a large sstrong squad, Leevale Men, will also be hoping to be 'in the mix'.  The Cork clubs will have it all to do, as many of the leading clubs, like Raheny Shamrock AC, Tullamore Harriers AC, Galway City Harriers AC, Finn Valley AC, Dunboyne AC and Dundrum South Dublin AC all have large squads, and strength in depth. A surprising thing is that Galway club, Craughwell AC, one of teh largest clubs in the country, do not have a team entered.

Individual Cork Entries

Two Cork athletes are included as Individual Entries on the list; Michael Harty(East Cork AC) and Aoife Cooke (Youghal AC). One would expect that Michael Harty's inclusion, as individual, is a transcription error (not unusualk dfrom Athletics Ireland ;) ), as East Cork AC have a team entered, and the Cork Team would be at a great loss if he were running and not form part of the team. Equally Youghal AC's Aoife Cooke is listed as individual and, while Youghal AC do not have a team entered, it would also be a great loss to Cork, if she were not included on the team.
