The first meeting of the Autumn sessions of the new Cork Youth Development Initiative (CYDI), along with the Winter Coaching Series, took place at CIT Track, on Saturday last, September 22nd 2018

While the morning was wet, the weather improved for the afternoon, and the athletes and coaches had a great session.
Session One saw the trials for 2003 to 2006 age group, for inclusion on CYDI Panel A. An enthusiastic group of athletes turned up and participated in these coaching sessions. The coaches put the athletes through their paces, and the following athletes were selected for inclusion on to the A panel.

Cork  Athletics County Board would like to congratulate all the athletes selected, and hopes they will both enjoy and benefit from the programme ahead for 2018/2019.

There was no Long Jump coach available on the day for the CYDI group, but Cork County Board are delighted to welcome Shane Howard, Bandon AC, to our coaching panel.

For athletes who have expressed a preference for Long Jump, trials for this event will take place on the next CYDI training day, Saturday October 13th.

The numbers who attended the Winter Coaching Series, from 2:30pm to 4:00pm, were quite low, partly due to athletes who might otherwise have attended, having already attended the earlier CYDI session. Cork Athletics County Board would like to encourage more athletes to come along for this session. It is a great opportunity to get some technical coaching under your belt for upcoming indoor competition. Importantly, the lower numbers attending this session means that there is greater opportunity for each athlete, particularly in terms of individual attention and coaching.

Please note that atheletes who have not been selected for the CYDI A panel are invited to train at this time, 2:30pm to 4:00pm, and, if they demonstrate dedication and improvement, there will be opportunities to change to the CYDI A Panel, during the Coaching Series.
