The next Level 1 Coaching course will be held Online and at MTU Track In December and January

 

Dec 9th - 6pm to 9pm - Theory online via zoom

Dec 11th - 10am to 5pm - Practical Day 1- MTU Athletics Track, Cork

Jan 14th 2022 - 6pm to 9pm - Theory online via zoom

Jan 15th 2022 - 10am to 5pm - Practical Day 2 MTU Athletics Track Cork

Course Information


Information on Level 1 Coaching Course

NB: All attendees must have completed either an Athletics Leader course, or Assistant coach course, prior to attending a Level one.

Aim

  •     The Level 1 course is focused on the learning to train stage on the LTAD pathway.
  •     Coaches working at this stage will continue to develop the fundamental skills of the athlete.
  •     Fun and participation are still the main aims of the course. The course focuses on the development of sports specific skills, learning the correct posture and movements of all running, jumping and throwing events.

Course Content

  •     Developing the techniques of running, jumping and throwing.
  •    Understanding the effects of puberty in developing the young athlete
  •    Planning and conducting a training session incorporating Running, Jumping and Throwing
  •    Developing the mental capacities of the athlete towards fair play, discipline, confidence, concentration etc.
  •    Developing the fundamental skills of Running, Jumping and throwing and making them more sport specific
  •    Continuing the development of athletics in a fun environment
  •    Child Welfare and Safety in events

Duration:

This is a course over 2 weekends (25 hours)

 

Entry Requirements:

Level 1 is open to all those 18 years or older who have completed an Athletics Leader course or an Assistant Coach course.

 

Assessment/ Qualification:

  •     Practical assessment and continuous assessment throughout the course.
  •     Sample training session
  •     Observed Practice
  •     Oral assessment

Cost:

€100 - A Coaching Manual is included in the price for this course.

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
