Note:
There is no entrance fee for this event.
There are no toilet facilities but there are a number of petrol stations within minutes of the venue.

 

Avondhu Area Race Meet 20th SEPTEMBER 2020 – INFORMATION

Registration:
 All athletes must pre enter through their respective club competitions secretaries. Entries are to be emailed to Patrick Whelan at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than 6 p.m. on Sunday the 13th September. No Late Entries are allowed.
Only Athletic Ireland registered athletes whose club are affiliated to Avondhu Area Division may compete.
No entries will be accepted on the day and this will be strictly enforced.

Please note only one parent/guardian may accompany athletes to the warm up and competition field. This will enable more athletes to compete as total numbers including officials cannot exceed 200 as per current Government guidelines.
Any club sending athletes must appoint a Covid officer to attend the event to ensure Athletics Ireland guidance is being adhered to.
Please ensure the athletes are familiar with and abide by Athletics Ireland return to competition protocols. We would appreciate if each club could provide one additional steward with their Covid officer.

Arrival:
The venue is the Grange Fermoy AC track located at the back of Colaiste An Chraoibhin,
Eircode P61 VX78

1. Parking will be in the staff car park free of charge which can hold up to 100 cars, we ask that no one parks in the surrounding estates. Plan to arrive in good time for your race as they will go off on time. Allow time to check in. Please follow stewards’ instructions at all times. The walk to the entrance is approximately 400 metres.

2. Entry on to the competition field and warm up:
Athletes, coaches and the parent/guardian will enter the track at the main entrance and exit at a separate gate to the car park as shown on the attached map. Entry times for the age categories are at the end of this information page
A physical distancing queuing system will be operated and all entrants will be asked to use hand sanitiser and Adults will be required to wear face masks while logging in at the entry gate.  Athletes will be allowed warm up on the field.
Proof of a filled out club Covid tracker will be required at entry to the competition area.

In competition and Recording of athletes at finish:

Athletes will be called to assemble near the start line 1 minute before the start of the race and will be called forward to the line and released once they are set. The race officials at the start and finish line will be required to wear face coverings.
First Race is scheduled to start at 11 am.
There will be a race clock at the finish so that athletes will know what time they did for their respective race.

Medals for the first three individuals of each race will be on the podium for collection.
There will be no team medals on this occasion.

After competition:

After each age category the athletes and guardians will exit to allow the next age category to enter the venue. There will be a separate exit point from the competition area back to the car park.

There will be no Food & Drink sold onsite on the day.

Athletes/Guardians can bring their own refreshments with them, no bins will be provided so all rubbish must be brought home by those who have brought refreshments with them.

Age categories, Race Distances and entry times:
Under 9 (Born 2012) 750m – Entry from 10:30 -10:50 - First race is at 11am
Under 10 (Born 2011) 1000m - Entry from 10:30 -10:50 - First race is at 11am
Under 11 (Born 2010) 1500m – Entry 11:45 – 12:00 – First Race is at 12:05 am
Under 12 (Born 2009) 2000m – Entry 11:45 – 12:00 – First Race is at 12:05 am
Under 14 (Born 2007 & 2008) 3000m – 12:50 – 13:10 – First race is at 13:15
Under 16 (Born 2005 & 2006) 4000m – 12:50 – 13:10 – First race is at 13:15
Under 18 Girls (Born 2004 & 2003) 4000m –12:50 – 13:10 – First race is at 13:15
Under 18 Boys (Born 2004 & 2003) 6000m – 12:50 – 13:10 – First race is at 13:15

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
