Boys’ races: Teams of 8 with 4 to score.  Girls’ races: Teams of 6 with 3 to score


Athletes must compete in their own age group. However, a team may be completed by the inclusion of one athlete from the age group immediately below

Registration will open at 10:30am, and will be located near the buildings inside the entrance gate. Entry fees (for those schools not already paid) should be settled here, before numbers are collected. Athletes not accompanied by a teacher must also pay their entry fee at this point

Only schools currently affiliated to the ISAA may compete


Teachers are asked to remind athletes to bring their own pins. Please instruct your athletes that numbers will require a minimum of two safety pins. on either side of the number (not top and bottom).

Holders of perpetual cups should return them to registration.

The location will be the Cork County AAI Board’s cross-country ground at Slieveroe and is almost 3 miles east of Riverstick (past Ballymartle GAA pitch) or 4 miles southeast of Carrigaline (1 mile off the road to Belgooly - R611). The roads approaching the location are narrow High-Viz ‘AAI – XC’ direction signs will be in place from Riverstick and at a junction 2 miles from Carrigaline on the Belgooly road (R611). There will be no direction signs through the Carrigaline town centre. The nearest eir code is P43 RN33.


All teachers not familiar with the roads approaching the course are advised to check out the travel directions in advance of departure from the school.


Limited toilet facilities and no dressing facilities will be available at the venue.  Teachers should remind their athletes of this before departure from school on the day.


Medals will be presented to the first Six individuals after they cross the finish line.


Team results should be available very soon after each race and medals can be collected at registration. There will be no formal medal presentation ceremony for team winners. The girls’ races will have three athletes to score (a maximum of six to get medals) and the boys’ races four athletes to score (a maximum of eight to get medals).

From Jack Lynch Tunnel 

Continue through the Jack Lynch Tunnel and along the N40 South Ring Road, as far as the Kinsale Road Roundabout. Approaching the Kinsale Road Roundabout, take the slip-road to the Roundabout. At the then first left onto the N27 Kinsale Road (Airport Road)

At the Airport Roundabout, continue straight through, onto the R600 and continue on to Riverstick village. At the cross-roads in Riverstick, by the village church, turn left and continue on until you meet the L2494, where you again turn left. Continue for another Mile. The Venue is then on the right

From Cork City

Take the N27 South Link Road as far as Kinsale Road Roundabout. Continue directly through the Roundabout, towards Cork Airport and continue as above

 

From Carrigaline

Take the R611 Belgooly Road and continue for 2.2 Miles, then turn right onto the L2494 and continue for another 2 Miles. The venue is then on your left

From West Cork

Take the N22 and then continue on the N40, as far as the sliproad to the Kinsale Road Roundabout and, again, continue aonto the Kinsale Road, towards Cork Airport, and on, as above

Qualifiers for Munster Championships at Cork Athletics Grounds, Riverstick, Tuesday 15th Feb: First 4 teams in each grade, and any athlete who finishes in the first 15 in each race

Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork.
