West Cork Division Cross-Country Championships 2021

11:00am, Sunday October 17th 2021

 

The West Cork Cross Country Championship will take place on Sunday 17th October, with the first race scheduled to start at 11am.

 

Same venue as 2018, 2019

 

Pre-entry is Not required


€3 payable by all on entry to venue, or €5 for Senior Athletes, with a max €10 per family

 

Under 9 Girls start at 11:00am, followed by Under 9 Boys, alternating Girls & Boys through the ages

Adult races will commence at approx, 1pm, following the Juvenile races

Medals will be presented to the top 3 in each race, with prizes for top 3 teams in each racem with 4 scorers per team

Where there are less than three teams of 4, the next team places willbe filled by teams of 3


Team medals will be distributed to the team managers at the end of the meet

 

Directions to Venue

Pass Bandon Mart, heading out on the Ballinadee Road, with the Old Still pub on your left. After approx. 2k, pass Baldwins Bridge, then turn right at the fork, and it is 2k then to the XC venue

 

Parking

Parking in field directly across from course.

 

Distances

U9 - 700m
U10 - 1000m
U12 - 1500m
U14 - 2000m
U16 - 3000m
U20 girls - 3000m
U20 boys - 4000m

Ladies - 3000m
Men - 6000m


Individual medals will be awarded for each of Senior/Novice and Masters categorie for Men and Women. but all categories will be combined for team prizes


There will not be separate races for Novice/Senior/Masters, so, for example, all the women will run together, and must declare their category before the start


Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each category


Overall team prizes will also be awarded, with 4 athletes to score, so, for example, teams could comprise 2 Senior, 1 Novice and 1 Master, or any combination od four athletes


It is also possible to win more than 1 team prize, if sufficient athletes from one club team finish

 

Approximate Meet Schedule

Gates open at 10:15am

Girls Under 9 - 11:00am, Followed by Under 9 Boys

Girls Under 10 - 11:20am, Followed by Boys

Girls Under 12  - 11:45, Followed by Boys

Girls Under 14 - 12:15pm, with other Juvenile/Junior races following

Adult races will start at approx 1pm

Start times may move forward or back, to facilitate the smooth running of the event, please pay attention to the PA annoucements

Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
