Paralympian Niamh McCarthy, who launched the 2017 event, with members of Belgooly AC
Because of changes within Fota Wildlife Park, including the opening of the new African Savannah tiger enclosure, the traditional 4 Mile route was altered, in 2017, to include the new areas within Fota Wildlife Park. As a result, the distance has been reduced to 5k
In 2017, a 1 Mile race was introduced, for Juveniles aged 11 to 15 years. Entry is limited to 200 Juveniles. This event will be chip timed, and will start at 7:15pm, while the main event, the 5k, will start at 8pm
Entry Information
Entry for both 1 Mile and 5k events is entirely online, via this link:
NO ENTRIES will be taken on the day - Pre-Entry only
Number Transfer is NOT permitted
These events will be Chip Timed
The course elevation profile above isn't quite as bad as it looks.
1) The presence of quite a bit of tree cover 'fools' Googlemaps into thinking that ther tree tops is the road surface
2) The range illustrated below is between about 10 and 50 ft, and all climbs are gentle slopes, except for one short sharp incline.
