Weather Outlook - @ 11am Friday August 30th

weather 6pm saturday august 31st 2019

As at 11am on Friday, the weather forecast for tomorrows race is looking pretty good, with no rain, temperatures of approx. 10C and light winds, from the northwest. Don't worry about the very heavy rain due later today and overnight - all should be clear of Cork city by 3am tomorrow morning

St Finbarr's AC hosts the 2019 'John Buckley Sports Cork City 10 Miler' on Saturday August 31st at 6.00 pm, proudly supported by SuperValu and Ó'Crualoaí.

This years' race sees a return to the Saturday evening format and will be run on much the same course as last year - starting on Centre Park Road taking in the Lough Mahon Loop returning in the old railway line and finishing on Monahan Road. A flat fast course which will prove popular with both fun and elite runners alike...

This years' race will incorporate chip timing, and has been accurately measured by Jones Counter and will serve as the Cork Athletics 10 Mile Championship. There will be a €3,000 total prize fund.

Prize-giving, tea, coffee, sandwiches and of course cake will be served afterwards in City Hall.

Proceeds from the race will be used as a fundraiser for St Finbarr's AC and Cork Penny Dinners

RACE ROUTE 2019

With a new Race HQ, in Cork City Hall, the 2019 route has been finalised, to minimise the distances between Race Start/Finish, and HQ. However the course is essentially the same as previous years, taking in the Marina, Blackrock Village, Lakelands Walkway and the old Railway cutting.

2019 Cork City 10 Miler Route

The race starts on Centre Park Road, and proceeds down to the Marina, turning right at the Lee Rowing Club, and heads towards Blackrock.
At the ramp to Pairc Ui Chaoimh, turn right, and follow the path over towards CAB motors, and continue on to Monahan Road.

Proceed along Monaghan road until you reach the junction with Blackrock Road, where the course turns right, at the Victoria Road roundabout, by the petrol station, and heads back through the start line, on Centre Park Road.

Continuing back down Centre Park Road for a second time, however, this time, the route continues right down the Marina, all the way to Blackrock Village. There will be a water station located on the Marina, just past Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

At Blackrock Village, the course crosses the Promenade and heads up Castle Road.

Passing Blackrock Castle, the route joins the Mahon/Lakelands Walkway, for approx. four miles. There will be another water station on this section.   After the Old Railway Line section, the course comes out by the Atlantic Pond, and continues past CAB Motors, and up Monahan Road, to the Finish Line outside Kennedy Park, where the Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon finishes
