Juvenile PRO Report on Munster Juvenile Uneven Age Championships, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare, Sunday November 9th 2014

The Munster Juvenile uneven age championships were held, in ideal conditions, on Sunday 9th November in Newmarket-On-Fergus, Co. Clare.

The course was well laid out, with good underfoot conditions, and gentle inclines, leading to good performances by all our Cork juveniles. The championships were well organised, with ample stewarding on the main road, and within the course. Cork won 10 of the 12 County team titles on offer, and were runners up in the other 2, with Cork clubs taking 13 inter-club prizes. In addition to some great teamwork, Cork juveniles won 6 of the 12 individual titles on offer, with numerous individual medals.

Girls U-9 The day started well for Cork with a 1-2-3 here. Nicole Dinan, Leevale, was the winner with Amy McCarthy, Bandon, in second, and Ava Fitzgerald, Carrig na bhfear, in third. Bandon were winners of the team title, followed by Midleton in second, and Cork were county team winners.

Boys U-9 Ryan McCarthy, Riverstick-Kinsale, took the silver medal here, and helped Cork to team silver. North Cork were runners up in the inter club, followed in third by Bandon.

Girls U-11   There was a good performance by Maeve O'Neill, Doheny, to secure the silver medal, and she was a member of the Cork team that took gold. Youghal were team gold winners in the inter club.

Boys U-11  There was a good win for Diarmuid Healy, Midleton, here,  with Oisin O'Sullivan, Doheny, the bronze medal. Cork were county team winners

Girls U-13 There was another solid performance by Sarah Morrison, St. Nicholas, to take the silver medal, followed in third place by Grainne Egan, North Cork. Both were part of the victorious Cork team.

Boys U-13 This proved to be a tactical race, with Eoin Redmond, Riverstick-Kinsale, coming through to win comfortably. Niall Desmond, Bandon, taking third place. Leevale were second team, with Cork taking county gold

Girls U-15 Competition was strong here, with Ursula Bluett, North Cork, taking third place. The Bandon girls were to the fore here, taking the club team gold, and Cork the runners up county team.

Boys U-15 Darragh McElhinney, Bantry, added this title to the U-16 title he secured two weeks ago, by giving a great front running display, and helped Cork to team gold. Bandon were runners up in the inter club.

Girls U-17 Two Cork athletes with a bright future in the sport filled the first two positions here, with Rhona Pierce, Leevale, the gold, and Caoimhe Harrington, Bantry, the silver. Bandon were second team, with Cork the county gold.

Boys U-17—Charlie O'Donovan, Leevale, was second, with Fearghal Curtin, Youghal, in third. Leevale were club winners, and Cork the county team winners

GIRLS U-19  Maeve Ahern, Leevale, reversed placings from the county juniors with her club mate to take the U-19 title, with Louise Shanahan, Leevale, the silver. Leevale finished second team ,with Cork the county gold.

Boys U-19—David Fox, Leevale, was the silver medal winner, with Evan Byrne, Togher, the bronze. Leevale secured the club silver medal, and Cork the county gold
