Juvenile PRO Report - County Juvenile Uneven Age Championships 2014

The Cork County uneven age juvenile championships were held in Conna, on Sunday 12th October, in the most picturesque of surroundings in the East Cork countryside. The course layout and ideal weather conditions lent itself to good performances on the day. The event was excellently hosted by St Catherine’s AC. It was great to see over 516 competitors on the day, with some close finishes.  One of the team events was decided by the finishing position of the fourth person of the winning team, who finished one place ahead of the fourth person on the runners up team.

Girls U-9

Ava Fitzgerald, of Carrig na bhFear, was the winner here, from Nicole Dinan, Leevale, with Fatumo Amuso, Midleton, in third place. Bandon took team gold, from Midleton the silver, with Leevale third.

Boys U-9

Roman Borkowska-Hogan, North Cork, came home in front with DJ Coffey, Leevale, in second, and Ryan McCarthy, Riverstick-Kinsale, the bronze medal. North Cork were comfortable winners of the team event, from Bandon in second, and Dohenys in third.

Girls U-11

Maeve O'Neill, Dohenys, put up a good front running display to take the gold, from Sorcha Crowley, Grange-Fermoy, in second, and Emma Landers, Youghal, third place. The Youghal team were victorious from Leevale, in second, with Riverstick-Kinsale the third place.

Boys U-11

There was a good performance by Diarmuid Healy, Midleton, to win from Jack O’Neill, Skibbereen, with Callum McCourt, Bandon, in third place. Midleton took team gold, with Bandon the silver, and Leevale the bronze.

Girls U-13

Mallaigh O’Neill, Skibbereen, was the winner, with Grainne Egan, North Cork, in second place, from Sarah Morrison, St. Nicholas, in third. The team competition here was a closely fought affair with Bandon just edging out West Muskerry to the title, on count back, with Carrig na bhFear the bronze.

Boys U-13

Eoin Redmond, Riverstick-Kinsale, was a comfortable winner here, from Conor O'Neill, West Muskerry, and John O’Flynn, North Cork, in third. Leevale were first team, with West Muskerry second, and Youghal third.

Girls U-15

Laura Nicholson, Bandon, showed a great turn of foot to beat Ursula Bluett, North Cork, to capture the title, with Laura Hayes, St Catherines, in third place. Bandon athletes were well placed here to capture the gold, from Carrig na bhFear the silver, and Millstreet the bronze.

Boys U-15

Darragh McElhinney, Bantry, led from the start here, and was a convincing winner from Damien Madigan, North Cork, in second, with Liam Cotter, Bantry, filling the third position. Bandon were team winners, from Youghal in second, with West Muskerry third.

Girls U-17

In this event Caoimhe Harrington, Bantry, was the winner, with  Stephanie Cotter, West Muskerry, in the silver medal position, and Fiona Everard, Bandon, the bronze. North Cork were team winners, with Midleton second/ and Togher third.

Boys U-17

Fearghal Curtin, Youghal, was the winner here, from Charlie O'Donovan, Leevale, with Andrew Turner, Togher, in third. The team event was won by Leevale, with Togher in the runners up position.

Girls U-19

Niamh Cotter, Bantry, was victorious here from Aisling Cotter, Togher, with Sheila Connolly, Carrig na bhFear third. Togher took the team title

Boys U-19

David Fox/ Leevale/ took the gold from Luke Horgan/ Leevale/ with Jamie O’Connell, Togher, the bronze. Leevale took the team gold.
