Cork Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships 2014 - Juvenile PRO Report

The 2014 cross country season started off on Sunday 5th October, with the Cork County Juvenile even age cross country championships, hosted by West Muskerry AC, at a superbly prepared and well marshalled venue. All of the races were keenly contested, and both individual and team events were closely fought affairs. There were over 470 finishers on the day in the juvenile races which was up by over 7% on the 2013 figures

Girl’s U-10

There were over 80 finishers in this event with the gold going to Nicole Buckley, Riverstick-Kinsale, silver to Alex Cashman, Youghal, and bronze to Avril Millerick, Youghal. Youghal took team gold, from Riverstick-Kinsale in second, and Bandon in third.

Boy’s U-10

In this event there were over 65 finishers, with Cathal Barry, Riverstick-Kinsale, coming out on top, with Eoghan Cassidy, Bandon, the runner-up position, and Conor Frawley, North Cork, taking bronze. Bandon were victorious in the team event with North Cork second and Riverstick-Kinsale in third.

Girl’s U-12

This event had the biggest number of competitors with 81 finishers. Sarah Morrison, St Nicholas, carried on where she left off last year, by taking gold. The silver went to Mallaidh O'Neill, Skibbereen, and bronze to Shannon Cotter, West Muskerry,.The host club West Muskerry took the team gold, with Bandon second, and Leevale third.

Boys U-12

John O'Flynn, North Cork, was a worthy winner, with Diarmuid Healy, Midleton, in second, and Colin Roche, Courcies, third. Midleton emerged victorious in the team event, with Bandon second, and Carrig na bhFear third.

Girls U-14

There was further success for North Cork here, with Ursula Bluett claiming gold, and her club mate, Grainne Egan, second. Jennifer Cotter, West Muskerry, was third. West Muskerry took team gold, with Bandon second, and Grange-Fermoy third.

Boy’s U-14

Chris O'Reilly, Togher, was a worthy winner here, with Jake McCarthy, Youghal, following him home in second, and Joseph Daly, Carrig na bhFear, third. West Muskerry were first team ,with Leevale second, and Youghal third.

Girl’s U-16

Caoimhe Harrington, Bantry, started off her cross country campaign in good form, by taking gold, with Sarah Corbett, North Cork, the silver, and bronze to Laura Nicholson, Bandon. Bandon took team gold, with Midleton second, and Carrig na bhFear third.

Boy’s U-16

Charlie O'Donovan, Leevale, after a good track campaign, took gold in the boy’s U-16, from clubmate Conor O'Driscoll, in second, and Damien Madigan, North Cork, in third. There were only two competing teams here with, Leevale taking the gold, from West Muskerry in second.

Girl’s U-18

There was a clean sweep for Leevale, filling the first three positions, Rhona Pierce, gold, Maeve Ahern, silver and Louise Shanahan, bronze. Leevale were team winners, from Togher.

Boys U-18

Evan Byrne, Togher, was a good winner here, from Ferghal Curtin, Youghal, with Luke Horgan, Leevale, taking bronze. Leevale were victorious in the team event
