Route Changes for 2016
There are a small number of changes to this year's route:
The biggest change is in the last mile. For the past few years,
the
route has continued, from North mall, onto Pope's Quay. This
year,
instead of continuing onto Pope's Quay, the route turns right, onto
North Gate Bridge, and immediately left, onto Kyrl's Quay, on to
Lavitt's Quay, before turning right onto Patrick St.
The second change is on the Marina, immediately before the 15 Mile
mark, where a new cutting, from the Old Railway Line, onto the Marina,
should reduce the impact of the merger of the Marathon and
Half-Marathon routes. This is quite a minor change.
The combined effect of these changes, along with a number of changes in
layout, on a small number of streets en route, means that the start has
been moved back just over 45 metres down the street. The overall
distance, of course, remains at 26 Miles and 385 yds.
