Michelle Finn - Leevale AC - Cork City Sports Athlete of the Year, 2014

Michelle receives the award for an outstanding 2nd place in the senior women’s National Inter Counties Cross Country Championship, held at Dundalk IT on November 23rd. This run also secured Michelle a place on the Irish team for the European Cross Country Championships, held in Bulgaria, in December, where she ran a superb race, finishing 23rd.  She was a scoring member of the Irish Senior Women’s team that finished 3rd place in the team contest. - Cork City Sports

Kenneth O'Flynn, Deputy Lord Mayor
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Kenneth O'Flynn, Deputy Lord Mayor, spoke highly of the Cork ity Sports, now in it's 64th year, and the honour and prestige the sports bring to the city.  He also paid tribute to the 500 plus unpaid volunteers who help in the Cork City Marathon.

Tony O'Connell, Chairman, Cork City Sports paid tribute to the many people who contribute to making the Cork City Sports what it is, saying "Nobody is paid. Everything comes from a love of sport - money can't buy you that!" He also appealed to people to "Volunteer - give something back"
