Cork Athletics County Board Coaching Day 1
The first of eight coaching days in this year’s Cork Athletics County
Board's Autumn/Winter coaching days took place, in glorious sunshine,
at CIT Track
last Saturday.
Fifty five athletes, from thirteen different Cork clubs, took part. The clubs that took part were Abbey Striders AC,
Blarney-Inniscarra AC, Bandon AC, Belgooly AC, Courceys AC, Doheny AC, Leevale AC, Liscarroll AC,
Midleton AC, North Cork AC, Old Abbey AC, Riverstick/Kinsale AC and Youghal AC.
The day
began with a group warm up, followed by instruction in flexibility
required for all athletic events. The athletes then split into different groups,
for event specific coaching. There was great enthusiasm, from both
athletes and coaches, and it was great to see master athletes
registering, and taking part, alongside younger athletes.
Maybe some more
parent athletes will be encouraged to train alongside our younger
members over the next couple of sessions. It would also be a great way
for those athletic leaders, who completed their coaching course on Saturday, to gain
some valuable experience from the other side.
