After a night that saw him win two races, Grijalva called out Mo Katir for his whereabouts violations. Plus Val Constien looked good in her return to the steeple (Evan Jager was 8th in the men's race) and Craig Engels talked big after finishing last in the 800. The women's 10k ended up being a huge letdown as anyone thinking of going for 30:40 was a DNS - D'Amato, Henes, Kurgat, Infeld, and even China's WuGa He even though some of them warmed up.

- Bannister Miles At Oxford Celebrate 70th Anniversary Of Roger Bannister's Sub-4 Minute Mile Italy's Ossama Meslek lead four sub-4 in the elite men's race, winning in 3:56.15. Khai Mhlanga won the women's race in 4:36.09 and there was a world's best in the men's steeplechase mile from Will Battershill with 4:25.81. Many all-time greats were in attendance including mile WR holder Hicham El Guerrouj.

World Relay Champs Day 2
- Team USA Sweeps Men's And Women's 4x100 Titles At World Relay Champs The US men ran a world leading 37.40 to beat Canada (37.89). The US women broke the 10-year-old championship record with 41.85 to win by almost a second over France. Jamaica won the loser's bracket to secure Olympic qualification after not making the final on day one.
- Botswana Men Take World Relays 4x400 Title After USA DQ'd On Day One; US Wins Women's And Mixed Races 20 minutes after running a 4x100 leg, Gabby Thomas doubled back with a 49.57 split to help the US dominate in 3:21.70, 3 seconds ahead of Poland. Botswana ran a world-leading 2:59.11 to win the men's race while the US won their loser's bracket heat to secure Olympic qualification. In the mixed race, the US won in 3:10.73 ahead of the Femke Bol-lead Netherlands (3:11.45). Ireland finished third (3:11.53) after Rhasidat Adeleke ran a 48.45 split (the fastest split ever recorded at the World Relays).

- BTC Shows Up To Rainy Oregon Twilight; Charlies Hicks Wins 5000m In 13:29 A bunch of other BTC guys started the 5000m, but dropped out at various points. Duncan Hamilton won the 1500m in 3:42.28 over Mohammed Ahmed (3:42.54) while Evan Jager ran 3:46.26 for 4th. Jager says this is the most consistently healthy he's been in six years. BTC's Kaylee Mitchell won the women's 1500m in 4:09.45

- USA Leads The Way With 4x100m Heat Wins At World Relay Champs The US men won their heat in a world-leading 37.49, more than half a second ahead of Italy. The US women had the fastest time with 42.21. Jamaica had a poor showing, finishing 5th in their heat.
- 4x400 Heats: US Men DQ'd; Letsile Tebogo Splits 43.49 To Lead Botswana To Fastest Time Of Day (2:59.73) Beating South Africa By Just .03 The US men were DQ'd for switching out of the assigned order for one of the hand-offs. The US women won their heat in 3:24.76, but Ireland had the fastest time of the day with 3:24.38 (lead by a 49.48 split from Rhasidat Adeleke). In the mixed relay, the Netherlands broke the championship record in the first heat, but then Team USA broke it 11 minutes later when they won heat 2.

- Men's Pro Mile: Jared Nuguse (3:51.06) Beats Olli Hoare (3:51.28) Nuguse crushed UNC's Tony Waldrop's 50-year-old Penn record of 3:53.2. He also breaks Eamonn Coghlan’s 1979 Franklin Field record of 3:52.88. Plus Eric Holt ran 3:51.46 pb for 3rd. Our Jonathan Gault says it looked like Nuguse wasn't going all out. Sage Hurta Klecker won the women's 1500 in 4:07.10.
- MB: UW women break 4 x 800 NCAA record, win Penn in 8:17.45 It was a heartbreaking weekend for the women of Providence as they crossed the line here first but were DQd (dropped stick in last 100). They also beat the collegiate DMR record but lost that.
- John Reniewicki Breaks Steve Scott's 40-Year-Old Drake Relays 1500m Record With 3:36.44 Victory Former NCAA champ Anna Camp Bennett won the women's 1500m in 4:07.82 and Canada's Aurora Rynda took the 800m in 2:00.97. Cindy Sember won the 100H in 12.59 while Lolo Jones finished fifth in 13.10, what might be the over-40 world record (Jones says she is hoping to qualify for the Olympic Trials). KC Lightfoot took the PV with 5.90m.
The team of Sophia Gorriaran (3:30.36), Chloe Fair (53.20), Victoria Bossing (2:02.54) and Maia Ramsden (4:21.47) beat Villanova's outdoor CR of 10:48.38 by 10+ seconds and UW's indoor (10:43.39) by 5+ seconds. Providence also got under the old record in 2nd by running 10:39.04. In the men's race, the teams jogged around and Liam Murphy anchored Nova to glory in a pedestrian 9:35.90.
- Kentucky Sweeps Men's And Women's Drake Relay Cup Titles In The University Division The Minnesota State men and women swept the college division and the Notre Dame women won the DMR in a meet record 10:54.50.
- Notre Dame Takes Down Women's 4x1600 Record With 18:44.15 To Win Drake Relays Gonzaga took the men's 4x1600 over hosts Drake, 16:50.57 to 16:50.87.
- Freshman Paige Sheppard Runs 2:07.86 Anchor Leg To Lead Union Catholic To National Record 4x800 Record At Penn Relays They ran 8:41.20 to break the 16-year-old national record. Bullish HS broke their own month-old girls 4x400 record with 3:35.17, but they still finished second to Jamaica's three-time defending champion Hydel. The Saratoga girls (11:36.45) and CBA boys (10:01.47) won the DMRs.

Rono achieved legendary status in 1978 when he set four world records in four different events in 81 days. Robert Johnson, who has an autographed poster of Rono on his office wall, pays his respects.
