The runners from Africa ran in the back early but dominated late and went 1-2-3-4 as Grant Fisher was fifth (12:53.30). Teammates Cooper Teare (12:54.72, 9th) and Cole Hocker (12:58.92, 11th) broke 13:00 for the 1st time. In the women's 5000, Elle St. Pierre lowered her pb from 14:58.17 to 14:34.14 and won as Venezuela's Joselyn Brea set a South American record in 2nd (14:36.59).

        Track Fest Was Saturday Night

        After a night that saw him win two races, Grijalva called out Mo Katir for his whereabouts violations. Plus Val Constien looked good in her return to the steeple (Evan Jager was 8th in the men's race) and Craig Engels talked big after finishing last in the 800. The women's 10k ended up being a huge letdown as anyone thinking of going for 30:40 was a DNS - D'Amato, Henes, Kurgat, Infeld, and even China's WuGa He even though some of them warmed up.

        The Latest Teen Phenom Explosion Has Occurred

        Gill, who just turned 17 two weeks ago, ran 2:03.34 at age 15 and had a 2:01.50 pb coming in. She's also run 4:05 for 1500.

              • Team USA Sweeps Men's And Women's 4x100 Titles At World Relay Champs The US men ran a world leading 37.40 to beat Canada (37.89). The US women broke the 10-year-old championship record with 41.85 to win by almost a second over France. Jamaica won the loser's bracket to secure Olympic qualification after not making the final on day one.
              • Botswana Men Take World Relays 4x400 Title After USA DQ'd On Day One; US Wins Women's And Mixed Races 20 minutes after running a 4x100 leg, Gabby Thomas doubled back with a 49.57 split to help the US dominate in 3:21.70, 3 seconds ahead of Poland. Botswana ran a world-leading 2:59.11 to win the men's race while the US won their loser's bracket heat to secure Olympic qualification. In the mixed race, the US won in 3:10.73 ahead of the Femke Bol-lead Netherlands (3:11.45). Ireland finished third (3:11.53) after Rhasidat Adeleke ran a 48.45 split (the fastest split ever recorded at the World Relays).

            UVA was second and Georgetown took third, even though the Hoyas made history with all 4 legs under 4:00.

            The team of Sophia Gorriaran (3:30.36), Chloe Fair (53.20), Victoria Bossing (2:02.54) and Maia Ramsden (4:21.47) beat Villanova's outdoor CR of 10:48.38 by 10+ seconds and UW's indoor (10:43.39) by 5+ seconds. Providence also got under the old record in 2nd by running 10:39.04. In the men's race, the teams jogged around and Liam Murphy anchored Nova to glory in a pedestrian 9:35.90.

              Also on Saturday

              The highlight was Emmanuel Wanyonyi's 3:54.5 WR in the road mile with Hobbs Kessler roughly two seconds back. The other male winners were Arop (1:45), Kejelcha (13:00), and Kimeli (27:04). The women's winners were Jepchirchir (4:32), Eisa (14:38), and Ngetich (30:03).
