Cork Results from GloHealth National Juvenile Indoor Championships
Athlone IT, Saturday & Sunday March 12th & 13th

Great Displays in Athlone over the weekend! Cork had some outstanding
performances. Congratulations to all who participated, along with their
coaches. Ciara Sheehy (Liscarroll A.C) stole the show, by throwing a CBP of 13.59m
in the shot putt and to Emma Coffey (Carraig-na-bhFear ) in the under
16 pole vault, equalling the record, with a vault of 2.80, a great
result for her. Kyle Etthon pulled out all the stops in the boys
under 12 long jump, claiming the gold medal with a jump of 4.54. Well
done to Glory Wenegieme and Danny Kelly, both Belgooly A.C athletes,
for taking 1st and 2nd place in the boys under 13 long jump, with jumps
of 4.84 and 4.69 respectively. Jessica Lyne had a great jump of 1.36 in
the girls under 12 high jump, taking the win for her club Leevale A.C.
Connor Morey, Leevale A.C, had great victory in the boys under 16 200m,
with a winning time of 23.33. Our hurdlers had a great weekend with
jack murphy (under 19) and Hugh Collins (under14) taking gold medals.
Kevin O'Leary (Liscarroll A.C) took silver U-19, and Holly McCarthy got
silver in the under-14 girls
Joe Gibson (Bandon A.C), under-19, had a great day, as he qualified for
the final of the sprint, with a time of 7.30, and then pulled out all
stop for his final, to take the win with a time of 7.03, which is a
very impressive time. Well done to him, and looking forward to hearing
more from him through his year.
We had a few clubs that stood out at this weekend, Leevale AC, Midleton
A.C , Riverstick-Kinsale A.C, Belgooly A.C, Liscarroll A.C, Bandon
A.C and Carraig-na-bhFear.
We had many medal winners and I am sure, it was well deserved.
Congratulations to them all and wishing the best to all athletes for
the outdoor season.
