An excellent 6th place finish for Alex Wright in Dudince 50k
this morning ensured Olympic qualification. His time of 3hrs 48mins 32
secs was a 3 mins personal best and way inside the Rio qualifying time. Alex had already qualified for the 20km walk, last June.
Alex said: "I'm so happy to have done this eary in the year.
It was really tough over last 5k but I dug deep and I will now prepare
for the world cup in Rome in May, where I will race 20k."
Rob Heffernan records 1:22:42 for 20km in Dudince, Slovakia - an
Olympic qualifying time. Rob already had the 50km qualifying time
banked since last August. Brendan Boyce, who has already
qualified for the 50km walk, walked 1:26:12, while Cian
McMenamon walked a PB of 1:27:31
