SportsAbility Day launched by Orla Barry & Aisling Thompson

On Saturday April 9th the Cork SportsAbility Day sponsored by Blackwater Motors Volkswagen will take place at the UCC Mardyke Arena from 12-3:30pm. The event was launched recently at Blackwater Motors, Turners Cross by Paralympic medallist Orla Barry & Cork Camogie star Aisling Thomson. The SportsAbility Day is a showcase and information day for all things SportsAbility in Cork.

Padraig Healy, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer with Cork Sports Partnership stated “Find Your Sport is the slogan for this years event and it is fitting as the event aims to get people of all abilities participating in physical activity. This years SportsAbility Day will be bigger & better than ever before with a wide range of come & try sessions taking place including wheelchair rugby, special yoga, archery, blind football to name just a few. We will also have over 30 information stands from a wide range of clubs & organisations. We are delighted to announce a sensory room will be on site for any visitors who need some quiet time during the day”.

Jean Murphy of Blackwater Motors Volkswagen said “we are excited to be sponsors of such a positive event promoting sport for all abilities. The initiative behind  SportsAbility Day is great as it  not only creates a wider awareness about sports inclusion but it gives people with a disability the opportunity to get involved in range of sports and  find one that suits their interest all in the one venue”.

This years special guest is former sports commentator Micheál O Muircheartaigh. This event is not to be missed and suitable for anyone with an interest in Sport.
