Rio 2016 - Rob Heffernan features in ‘Nissan – Road to Rio’ Film

Togher AC, and Ireland, race walker Rob Heffernan, is the featured athlete in the first of Nissan's 'Road to Rio' series.  The video features Rob talking and training in Fota Island, Cork, with his wife and coach, Marian.

This year, Rob will make history as Ireland's first athlete to perform in five Olympics.  Rob trains with fellow Olympic Qualifiers, Brendan Boyce and Leevale AC's Alex Wright.

Rob's 'Typical' Week's Training

Day 1 – 25km, and 8km
Day 2 – 12km, and 8km
Day 3 – 15km (10 × 100 fast, 400m easy), and gym
Day 4 – 8 x 2km / 1km recovery, and 6km
Day 5 – 12km
Day 6 – 8km and 2 pyramids, and 8km, plus gym work
Day 7 – 6 x 3km (4.10km) / 1km (4.40km)
